The fifth annual meeting of the Clayton County
Farmers' Insurance Company was held at Elkader, Saturday,
December 20th, 1879. Nearly all the old officers were
unanimously re-elected. The officers elected for the
current year are:

company was held at Turner Hall, Elkader, on Tuesday, and
was largely attended. The following officers were elected

held at the Court House yesterday afternoon. The

Treas. - John Johnson, St. Olaf

Mr. Welzel, of Grand Meadow, who served as president for
the past nine years, declined re-election.

At the annual meeting of the Farmers Mutual Fire and
Lightning Association, held here today, the following
were elected:
Directors - P. H. Quinn, Strawberry Pont; P. N. Peterson,
St. Olaf; Geo. W. Fay, Postville. For 3 yr. terms.
Director - Frank J. Corlett, Farmersburg. For 2 yr. term
to fill vacancy caused by the resignation of John
Geraghty of Giard.
Director - Wm. G. Erbe. For 1 yr. term to fill vacancy
caused by the resignation of Adam Erbe.

The affairs of the association are in a prosperous
