Miles Coonfare plead guilty before Judge Carl Reed in district court here late Tuesday afternoon to the charge of assault with intent to do great bodily injury on the person of Wm. Vorwald. Both are residents of Volga township, this county. Coonfare was sentenced to one year in the men's reformatory at Fort Madison and he was taken there Wednesday afternoon by Sheriff Chris P. Larson, accompanied by Deputy S. H, Powell and Marshall Tom Kilfoil. Coonfare, it was alleged, struck Vorwald over the head with an auto crank and injured him quite painfully. The latter was taken to the Postville Hospital, where an x-ray examination of the wound was made.

State of Iowa vs. Edward Kuehl. Ordered that the defendant, Edward Kuehl, be paroled to John Ehrhardt.

Tuesday morning Carl Beck, of Guttenberg, appeared before Judge Eichendorf, plead guilty to the charge of driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated and waived preliminary hearing. Beck was fined $600 and costs of the case and he is forbidden to drive a motor vehicle for a period of two years. In default of payment of his fine he is to be confined to the county jail at hard labor at the rate of $3.33 per day.

State of Iowa vs. Gulik Texley. defendant plead guilty to charge of illegal possession of intoxicating liquor. Fined $300. and costs and sentenced to three months in the county jail. It being the first time defendant had appeared in court, jail sentence was suspended during good behavior and he was paroled to W. F. Barnes of Strawberry Point.
