Millard F. Stalnaker, farmer, section 16, Lodomillo Township, was born on the farm where he now resides, March 10, 1856. His parents, James M. and Elizabeth Stalnaker, nee McLane, were natives of Virginia, and early settlers of Clayton County. They had a family of five sons and two daughters, Millard being the youngest son. He resided on the farm with his father and attended the district schools until his marriage, Aug. 20, 1881, to Elnora Franklin, who was born in Allamakee County, Ia., and was a daughter of Charles and Mary (Corner) Franklin. One child has been born of this union, Mildred, born in 1882. Mr. Stalnaker owns fourty-four acres of highly cultivated land, and has made many excellent improvements on his farm. In politics he is a Republican, and is one of the representative and esteemed citizens of Clayton County. source: History of Clayton
