S. H. F. Schoulte was born in Dubuque, Ia., in 1841, and was a son of William and Katie (Strukoff) Schoulte, natives of Prussia and Aldenburg, Germany, respectively. They came to the United States in 1837, and were married in Dubuque, Ia., in 1840. They removed to Garnavillo Township in 1842, where William died in 1877. Our subject was educated at Sinsinawa, Wis., and in 1870 purchased his present farm of 545 acres, on sections 10, 11 and 12, Farmersburg Township. He has made agriculture a financial success, and his farm shows evidence of a master hand, containing many excellent improvements and conveniences not found on the average farm. He makes a specialty of breeding fine stock. He was married in 1872 to Mary, daughter of Henry and Mary S.V. (Meyer) Kamm, natives of Prussia. They came to the United States in 1847, and lo9cated in Jefferson Township, where they now reside. Mr. and Mrs. Schoulte have seven children - Henry H. G. and Katie E. (twins), born Oct. 29, 1872; Philena B., July 24, 1874; Frank W.E., April 1, 1876; Katie M. J. Oct. 16, 1877; S.H.F., June 13, 1880, and Anna A., April 30, 1882.
