James Paulson
Marion Twp.

James Paulson (or Brorby) was born in the town of Hadeland, near Christiana, Norway, March 7, 1830. He came to America in 1851, landing at New York, and came at once to Clayton County, and settled on section 4, Marion Township. He bought 160 acres, and has since added to his original purchase until he now owns 320 acres of highly improved land. He raises grain and stock of all kinds, and is making farming a financial success.

He was married to Doratha Johnston, Jan. 14, 1856. She died June 18, 1859.

He was again married on April 8, 1868 to Martha E. Kjorven. She is a native of Norway, born March 18, 1845. Six children have been born unto them - Josephine D., born March 26, 1870; Amelia, Sept. 2, 1871; Engeborg L., July 15, 1873; Paulina S., Oct. 7, 1877; Eliza M., Oct. 7, 1879; and Anna C., Nov. 14, 1881.

Mr. Paulson is a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. In politics is a Republican.
