Renke E. Meyer, farmer and stock-raiser, P.O. Osborne Station, was a son of Renke E. and Katherina (Geriets) Meyer, natives of Germany. They came to the United States in 1854. His father died in Clayton county, Iowa, in 1865. The subject of this notice was born Dec. 3, 1835, in Germany, where he was educated. In 1854 he came to the United States, and located in Toledo, Ohio, where he followed teaming until 1857, when he came to Clayton County, where he has followed farming since. He owns 200 acres of good land on section 4, this township, under excellent cultivation. He was married in 1861, to Anna, daughter of George and Hannah (Halbor) Trumbull, natives of Germany. They came to the United States in 1849. George died in Clayton County, 1860, and Hannah in 1871. By the above union there were eleven children-—George, born Feb. 2, 1862; August, born April 1, 1864; Elizabeth, Dec. 2, 1865 (deceased); Renke E., born Feb. 21, 1867; Anna, Dec. 28, 1868; Herman, Aug. 7, 1869; Emma, March 27, 1871; John, Nov. 3, 1872; Carl, July 17, 1874; Mary, Oct. 7, 1876; Matilda, June 11, 1878; William, July 17, 1880. The family are members of the Lutheran church. Mr. Meyers votes the Republican ticket, and is one of the well-to-do farmers of this district.
