H. H. Clark, M. D.,
one of the leading physicians of McGregor, was born in
Centre County, Pa., on the 12th day of October, 1843, and
was a son of John and Helen (Wolf) Clark. They were the
parents of three sons and two daughters-- William A., a
member of the Second Artillery, Barttery L. was killed at
Vicksburg; H. H., John S., of California; James B., of
Pennsylvania, and Mary. In 1851 John Clark emigrated with
his family to Illinois, and located in Stephenson County,
where he still resides. Dr. Clark was educated at the
Rock River Academy of Mt. Morris, Ill., and in 1866
commenced reading medicine under Dr. J. M. McFatrick. In
1867 he attended lectures at the Chicago Medical College,
graduated from that institution in the spring of 1870;
also spent one year in the Chicago Hospital, in which he
received a diploma. In 1870 he came to McGregor, where he
has been active in the prosecution of his profession
since. In October, 1881, he married Judith Baugh, who was
born in Mt. Vernon, Ill., in 1851. By this union there
are four children-- Alice M., Florence L, Harry H. and
Maud G. The Doctor is a member of the Masonic fraternity;
also the Northern Iowa Medical Society, the Clayton
County Medical Society, and of the State Board of Health.
He enlisted in 1862, in the Ninety-second Illinois
Volunteer Infantry, Company G, and served until the close
