 Hattie Welcome Shepperd 1898 - 1913 Hattie died at age 15 in a
farming accident. She was in the field helping to
remove weeds from a piece of machinery when the horses
spooked. Her legs were nearly cut off & she
developed gangrene. The doctors at the Postville
hospital couldn't help her. My grandfather was the
one working with the horses that day and I don't think he
ever got over her death. This is the only photo known to
exist of her. |
