John Hansel

Mary M. Akron - Eckert

John Hansel was the son of Philip Hansel and Hannah Klopsadel. He was born 1788 in Allegheny co. MD, and died 16 Jan 1883. He is buried in Hansel cemetery, Garber. He married Mary M. Akron - Eckert in 1832.

Mary M. Akron - Eckert was born 6 May 1798 in MD, and died 17 Jun 1893 in Mallory twp. Clayton co, IA. She was buried on 19 Jun 1893 in Hansel cemetery, Garber. Her maiden name is listed as 'Akron' in the 1882 Clayton Co census, however, is was shown to be 'Eckhart' in Allegany County, Md. marriage records, John Eckhart's (her father) probate, and 1918 death certificate of her son Strother Hansel.

*Jacob -born 25 Sep 1839 in Frostburg, Allegheny co. MD, & died 2 Dec 1909 in Garber. Married Nancy Esther Darrow.

*George -born Sep 1842 in Maryland, & died 14 Nov 1908 in Iowa. Married Mary Baker.

*Strother Todd -born 19 Nov 1844 in WVa & died 6 May 1918 in Mallory twp. Clayton co. Married Sophronia Wolf.

*Sarah E. -born ABT 1850 in Mallory twp. Clayton co. Iowa. Married James Milne.

*Charles - no information

Nelson Hansel was born on July 14,1877 & died December 31,1955. He married Mattie Palmer on Dec 25,1905. This above photo was taken Dec 25, 1955 just 6 days before his death on his 50th wedding anniversary.

Annette "Nettie" Hansel was born Feb. 1,1880 & died March 19,1958. She married George Moetsch on Dec 4,1901. George was born April 15,1866 & died on Nov 12,1938. They are buried in New Hampton, Iowa

Bessie Hansel was born on July 17,1882 & died on March 14,1958. She married Frank Thein on Jan 14,1903. Frank was born on Jan 13, 1881 and died Aug 26,1951. They were the parents of 4 boys: Dail, Albert, Maynard and Howard.

Exzella Hansel Exzella Hansel, daughter of Marion & Carrie (Smith) Hansel; granddaughter of Jacob & Nancy Hansel. Exzella was born July 19,1894. She married Daniel Persson on Nov. 22,1913. Daniel was born on Jan 22,1895.	Marion Melvin & Aulden Hansel Grandsons of Jacob and Nancy (Darrow) Hansel. Marion, was born Oct 16, 1906 & died Jan 01, 1977. He was the son of Marion & Carrie (Smith) Hansel. Aulden was born June 26,1910 & died June 25,1988. He married Mildred Frances Prentress on June 1, 1931 in Manchester, Delaware co. Ted Hansel & Mary Grobstick Theodore R. Hansel, son of Marion & Carrie (Smith) Hansel; grandson of Jacob & Nancy (Darrow) Hansel. Ted was born Oct. 5, 1902 & died on Aug 4,1993. He married Mary Grobstick on Oct.10,1922. Mary was born in 1902.	Opal Hansel Opal Pearl Hansel, daughter of Marion & Carrie (Smith) Hansel; granddaughter of Jacob & Nancy (Darrow) Hansel. She was born Sept 6,1899 and died on May 8,1990. She married Charles Down on May 16,1917. Charles was born Aug. 27,1893 and died June 1980.

Lyman John Hansel & Rose Borrett

Lyman John Hansel, son of John Hansel & Nancy Hunt, was born Jan 1868 in Mallory twp. & died Nov. 12, 1949. He married Rhoda Rosella "Rose" Borrett Mar 29, 1899 in East Elkport. She was born Nov 1873 in Mallory twp., the daughter of Alfred W. Borrett & Sarah Jane Foote. Rose died Jan 26, 1969. They are buried in Hansel cemetery, Garber.

Lyle Thomas Hansel, the oldest child of Marshall Hansel and Gertrude Thein, was born Nov 2,1898 in Garber, Clayton Co. Iowa & died on June 27,1977. He married Minnie Dobberstien on June 9,1927. Minnie was born June 3, 1897 & died on March 30,195. Both are buried in Aurora, IL. (see also Thein family album)
