Word came to Osceola Tuesday that Mr. Hi Mitchell's residence in Green bay township burned to the ground Monday morning. It was discovered by Mr. Mitchell while in the field plowing. It started in the kitchen and was in a location where the laides of the house did not know it until the fire was beyond control. A hard wind was blowing and the hose burned so quickly that a good part of the household goods were burned with it. It was a good substantial residence and is a great misfortune to the family. The house was partly insured.
In making the rounds for locals this week ye itemizer's attention was called to the display of jewelry kept for sale by Miss Lillian Barstow. She handles rings, chains, brooches, cuff buttons, and in fact can sell you anything you want in the jewelry line in gold plate, gold filled or Roman gold goods. Miss Barstow tells us she has sold jewelry to a number of patrons and it has given excellent satisfaction. The W. F. Main Co. of Iowa City are the manufacturers and their name stands as a good guarantee for the worth of the goods sold. They have a superior finish and the price is so low in comparison with the sterling quality of goods that they are ready sellers.
