Charley Harris was called to Sheffield, Illinois this week to attend the funeral of his mother. Mrs. A. G. McAuley intends going to Nebraska on the 18th inst. to spent the winter with her son W. S. McAuley. Ed Lockwood was suddenly attacked with illness in the store, Saturday, and had to be taken home. He is well again. Mrs. Prof. Beard was summoned to Prairie City, last Saturday, by the serious illness, with pneumonia, of a sister who has since died. The family of F. W. Johnson left for California, Thursday. Mr. Johnson remaining a few days later on business. They are a family of old residents and will be greatly missed here. Ben Carter is going with Mr. Johnson to see what fortune has there for him.

Mrs. Hartshorn has received a telegram announcing the severe illness of her son in the west. Miss Anna Johnson from Des Moines, has been visiting here for a week. Her mother, Mrs. Laura Johnson, has visited in Omaha before coming here. Mrs. Chaney made a business trip to Des Moines Tuesday. Miss Helen Scott and Miss Mabel Grant are helping Dr. Wilson in the store. W. B. Tallman's bright little son was attacked last week with some disease resembling diphtheria. If not that itself, and has lain in an exceedingly critical condition all this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Roundtree have left Osceola and gone to Denison. Mr. and Mrs. Tate will spend Christmas in Allerton, with her parents...Mrs. G. A. Turner has been very sick for three weeks past... Mrs. Jacob Fike, of Mason City, Missouri, is visitng her cousin, Mrs. A. S. Johnson, and family. She was formerly known here as Miss Sallie Middleswart...Cord Johnson has resigned his place in chicago, with the Rice-Hinze Co. and taken his family to Roseville, California, accompanying his father, P. W. Johnson.
