Mrs. Kate Jones is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wallace...Mrs. Wilkins and daughter, Cleda, left for their home in Grand River Monday...Margureite and Lela Barnard spent New Year's at John Wells...Prayer meeting Thursday evening at Mr. Zepp's. Preaching Sunday at 11 a.m. by Mr. Carson; Epworth League at 7 o'clock led by B. F. Clay.

January 28, 1904

Willie Edgington visited relatives south of Osceola the last of the week...Win Barnard went to Osceola Saturday...Mrs. T. E. Barnard visited at Osceola from Wednesday till Saturday...Miss Olive Sheldon returned to her home at Kellerton the last of the week...H. C. Myer, of Chariton is visiting his father, John Myer...Mrs. Etta Siefkas, of Lacelle, came Monday, being called by the sickness and death of her sister, Mrs. Myers...Mrs Maytum and Mrs. Uriah Williams returned Monday from their visit at Indianola...Wm. Shinn's daughter, Cora of Nebraska, is here visiting...Mrs. Troy Stansbury is visiting at Henry Frederick's and other relatives...Mrs. Mary Myer was born in Germany in 1843, and departed this life at 8 o'clock p.m. January 21, 1904, aged sixty-one years. The deceased was married three times. Mrs. Myer leaves three children, two sons, Remmer Dieckmann of Pekin, Ill. and John Dieckmann of this place and her daughter, Marie Thompson, a school teacher in Missouri. Mrs. Myer was married to John Myer, October 22, 1897, who survives her. The deceased has a sister and brother living at Lacelle. In her last sickness she suffered much. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wyman Folger assisted by Rev. Carson. The remains were laid to rest in the Jamison cemetery.

February 11, 1904

Mrs. Miller is visiting her son, Oliver, at Afton. While there she was taken quite sick but is better now. Her son, Vinton, went to see her...W. D. Green is able to be around again...Nina and Hazel Barnard visited their grandparents, Jas. Welch and wife, over Sunday...Mrs. Wesley Wharff and Mrs. Doc Jukkin are on the sick list...Ruby Trumbo's school closed last Friday...H. C. Myer returned to his home in Chariton Monday...John Chumbley spent Sunday at home...Meeting is in progress at the M. E. church. All are cordially invited to attend.

Grant Clay started home Monday...Mrs. Byron Maytum has a friend from Montana visiting her...The ones on the sick list are Mrs. Wesley Wharff, Ralph Musselman, Mrs. Byers and Con Wharff...Mr. and Mrs. Moin are entertaining a little blackeyed baby girl at their home since Saturday... J. S. Hamilton came home Tuesday from Chicago where he went with stock...Julia Casey was home over Sunday...Joe Hamilton of Osceola, is staying at his brother's Jesse...V. Harlan was in Jamison Monday.

Mrs. John Dorf's little brothers, of Kellerton, are visitig her this week...Mrs. Candus Johnson, Mrs. Louisa Wingett and Mrs. Harriet Cellman attended the rag sewing at T. E. Barnard's Thursday...Rev. Wilkins, of Grand River visited reatives here part of last week en route home from Des Mones. Rev. Carson returned from Des Moines Saturday...Wesley Wharff is better at this writing...Mrs. Moin's prents have returned to their home at Andover, Mo...Tom Bramer is moving here from Missouri...Mrs. Cetta Trumbo and daugher, Avas and Mrs. Cora Frederick and son, Pearl, left for Lamoni Saturday to visit friends...Miss Maggie Stacy arrived home from Omaha, Monday...Mrs. George Jenkins of Osceola came out Tuesday to visit her parents, who are quite porly. C. M. Stacy is on the sick list.

Rev. J. L. Carson left Monday for Arispe...Mrs. Maytum has been on the sick list for a few days...Melvin Stacy of Council Bluffs, came home Saturday for a short visit...Miss Maggie Stacy was in Westerville a few days this week...Will McGee's children are better...Mrs. Kate Green, of Indianola, arrived Tuesday...Mr. Hill, of Norwalk, was called here by the illness of his mother Mrs. Byers...Mr. Ramsey's family are better but Amy...Ed Green is on the sickl ist...Preaching Sunday at 11 a.m. Sunday School at 10 and Epworth League at 7.

Mrs. McGee went to New Virginia Saturday to visit her father Mr. Stickel who is quite poorly...Jamison school commenced Monday with Nellie Casey as teacher...Thee was a quilting at Mrs. W. S. Williams' Tuesday...There will be a W.C.T.U. lecture at Jamison M. E. church Monday and Tuesday evenings of next week. All are cordially invited to attend...Preaching at 11 A.M. and Sunday school at 10. Epworth League at 7:30.

Mrs. Sanders, of Westerville, and Mrs. May of Lacelle, visited their uncle, Will Stacy the last of the week...Wesley Wharff and Pres Trumbo went to Indianola Monday...Harvey Zepp left for Omaha Sunday night...Miss Mable Zepp commenced her school at Fremont Monday...Marguerite Barnard is still on the sick list...Sunday school officers were elected for the coming year as follows: Superintendent, Mr. Lackyer; assistant, Carrie Zepp; secretary, Mrs. C. M. Stacy; assistant, Sallie Edgington; organist, Mrs. Williamson; assistant, Floy Cellman; librarian, Lester Zepp; choirsters, Mabel Zepp and Mrs. Hester Taylor...Mrs. Will Stacy is on the sick list...Mrs. Byers is no better at this writing.

J. S. Perry of Marshalltown visited his uncle J. F. Wells from Saturday till Monday...Rob Green left Tuesday morning for Logan, Iowa, where he has a job of work...Miss Julia Casey went to Osceola Tuesday morning...Lester Zepp is on the sick list...Miss Lettie Spencer who has been teaching at Quiet Dell took the train for Osceola Tuesday morning. She has been on the sick list for several days...Marguerite Barnard is getting better slowly...Grandma Byers is no better at this writing... Milo Smith of near Osceola visited at his uncle D. Z. Wells over Sunday...Mr. Boulware, an insurance agent of Osceola, was in our berg Tuesday on business...William Fry arrived home from the west last week where he has been spending the winter with his daughter Fannie...Preaching Sunday at 11 a.m. by Rev. J. F. Carson...A W.C.T.U. society was organized here last week. The members are Mrs. Maude Carson, Mrs. Effie Moines, Hester Taylor, Sallie Edgington, Mrs. Nora Dorf, Mrs. J. F. Wells, Mrs. Barbara Maytum.

Mrs. John Kleckner and family visited at her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wells Sunday...Minnie Williams returned from her visit Monday...Granville Wells visited at his grandparents over Sunday...Mr. Charley Spencer's chidren are having the measles...Miss Myrtle Harlan, of Osceola, took dinner at John Wells's Friday...Misses Nellie and Julia Casey spent Sunday at Osceola...Everett Green returned from his trip to Dakota Saturday...Dannie Casey returned home Saturday...Hester Taylor attended the Harlan and Luther wedding at Osceola Sunday...Mr. Boulwarre, of Osceola was here on business Tuesday...Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hamilton were at Osceola Friday...Mary Edgington and Hattie Taylor visited Mrs. Nicholson last Saturday afternoon and it is well said of her, "She is a lover of flowers."

John Miller is visiting his niece, Mrs. Fred Clay, this week...Miss Minnie Williams left Saturday for St. Charles where she will visit Mrs. M. J. Rarick and other friends...Fred Clay and wife are entertaining a fine ilttle boy at their home... A party of about twenty-five young people spent the evening very pleasantly at the home of Mrs. Bob Leggitts last Thursday evening...Mrs. Josie Dukes and daughter, Marie, were Osceola visitors Saturday...Mrs. James Green, of Indianola, visited over Sunday with friends and relatives...Mable Leggitt, of Osceola, is visiting at her uncle's, Jas. Brimm this week. Mrs. Barbara Maytum went to New Virginia Monday...J. F. Wells and wife returned home Tuesday evening after their ten days' visit...Miss Linnie Harlan, of Osceola, came out home Tuesday evening...Fred Miller, of Osceola, visited his sister, Mrs Fred Clay, this week.

Anyone wanting sweet potato plants call on Claude Williamson and Pressly Trumbo, of Jamison...Hazel Glenn, of Osceola, came Monday for a few days visit...Dr. Campbell, of Mt. Ayr, is located on Main street opposite Williams' store...Mr. Wm. Shinn is much better at this writing...Memorial services at Union Chapel were well attended and the address by Rev. Van Horn, of Osceola, was splendid...Mrs. Frank Funston was in our city Tuesday...Miss Carrie Zepp visited at Osceola over Sunday.
