In 1935 the Murray boys basketball team went to the Iowa State Boys Basketball Tournament. In their first game they beat Forest City 31-27. They lost the championship game to Mason City by a score of 35-24. According to a representative of the Iowa Boys High School Athletic Union the trophies are probably from the District, Sectional, or County tournaments.
