Formation Rock
Township was
originally a part of Tilden township but was detached in 1876. Name is
derived from Rock Creek which flows through the township. During
the June session of the Board of Supervisors, the congressional
township 91-41 was detached and named Rock. It is located south of
Sheridan, east of Tilden and north of Willow townships.
Early
settlers They were Alexander Miller, Richard Larkin, Thomas Chapman, Charles
Durkee in 1868; Blasius Spinharney, Daniel Melter, Adam Corzillius,
Fred Bower, John Specht, Frank Kohn, Mattias and Jacob Fisch, "Matt"
Thiel, John Braley, Thomas Caswell, Jacob Kirchner, and Dom Liffring.
