LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF CATHERINE A. FARR |

Know
all men by these presents: That I, Catharine A. Farr, a resident of
Aurelia, in the county of Cherokee, and State of Iowa, being of lawful
age, and sound mind do make, publish and declare this instrument to be
my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all wills by me at
any time heretofore made. Item 1. It is my will and I direct that at the happening of my death all my just debts shall be paid out of my estate. Item 2. I hereby devise, give and bequeath to my daughter Lottie B. Farr, my homestead in Aurelia Town, described as Lot No 5, in Block No. 29, fourth addition to Aurelia, Iowa, together with all household furniture, fixtures and effects, therein and thereto belonging, the same to be hers and her heirs and assigns forever. Item 3. To my son Alvin C. Farr, I give and bequeath the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1000). Item 4. To my daughter May A. Dyslin, I give and bequeath the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1500). Item 5. To my daughter Kittie L. Burgess, I give and bequeath the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1500). Item 6. To Thomas J. Farr, I give and bequeath the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1000). Item 7. To Mabel Burns Farr, I give and bequeath the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500). Item 8. To my grandchild Hazel B. Dyslin I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50). Item 9. To my grandchild Catherine E. Dyslin I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50). Item 10. To my grandchild Charley L. Dyslin I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50). Item 11. To my grandchild Mabel A. Dyslin I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50). Item 12. To my grandchild Grace L. Farr, I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50). It am 13. Te my grandchild Ernst J. Farr, I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50). Item 14. To my grandchild Myrtle B. Farr, I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50). Item 15. To the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association of Pitcher Township, Cherokee County, Iowa, I give and bequeath the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100). Item 16. In the event that there shall not be, exclusive of homestead and furniture, at the time of my death, property to the amount of Five Thousand Nine Hundred Fifty Dollars ($5950) being amount of bequests, I direct that my said property exclusive of homestead and contents shall be divided between Alvin C. Farr, May A. Dyslin, Kittie L. Burgess, Thomas J. Farr, and Mabel Burns Farr, in proportion to the amounts herein before given to each of them. And in the event that my said property exclusive of homestead and furniture shall exceed the amount of bequests hereinbefore made, then such excess shall be divided between Alvin C. Farr, May A. Dyslin and Kittie L. Burgess, equally, but in any event my daughter Lottie B. Farr, is to have property given to her under Item 2 hereof. Item 17. I hereby nominate and appoint my son Alvin Farr, as the executor of this will and direct that he be permitted to qualify as such without giving bond. (signed) Catharine A. The foregoing instrument was on this 22nd day of September 1904, signed and executed in our presence, by Catharine A. Farr, who then and there declared the said instrument to be her last will and testament. And we in her presence and at her request and in the presence of each other have thereunto simed our names as witnesses. (signed) W. J. Prisch A. J. Ballou, Clerk of the District Court of the State of Iowa in and for Cherokee County, do hereby certify that the foregoing last will and testament of Catharine A. Farr, deceased, was on the 15th day of November, 1904, duly proved and admitted to probate and record in said Court in accordance with law. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court at my office in Cherokee, in said County on this 15th day of November A. D. 1904. Ben E. Burgess, do solemly swear that I was acquainted with Catherine Farr during her lifetime and that she departed this life at Aurelia, Cherokee County, in the State of Iowa, on the 8th day of October A.
