Latin or English.

How often the English wonder,
As the Latin class depart
If they weren't a little mistaken,
When given the chance to start
In English or in Latin,
By choosing the easier part.

But now that we'r reading Virgil, [sic we're]
And the horrible stories told

Of Polyphemus' banquets,
When he fed on warriors bold,
How he crunched their quivering bodies,
It makes our blood run cold.

'Tis now our turn to wonder,
As we read of this awful crime,
If we wouldn't enjoy our dinner
Just as well some other time.
And the English hearing the story,
Say, "Thank you thats not in my line."
