"Wilber Herbert engineer. Joe Bruff fireman. In the old Atlantic Electric Light plant about 1906 or 8. In the foreground, a 250 H.P. Corliss engine belted thr a clutch to one end of a 5" line shaft. In the far background, another 250 H.P. Corliss engine belted thru a clutch to the other end of the line shaft. In between, to the R of Joe's Shoulder is a 75 H.P. Skinner high speed engine which evidently was running at the time."

Transcribed by Barbara Bruff Hemmingsen, Joe Bruff's great niece, May 9, 2023. "I suspect the man on the right (bald) is Joe (Joseph Carroll Bruff) eldest son of James Berry Bruff (1853-1927) and Jessie Hannah (Cartland) Bruff (18xx-1927). I suspect the text on the back of the photo was written by Joe Bruff." Joe Bruff was a civil engineer by education.

Faintly handwriting along the side appears to read: "6th St. Electric P."
