CHAPTER XXI.
GROVE TOWNSHIP.
ORGANIZATION OF ATLANTIC AND GROVE TOWNSHIPS.
A special committee of the Board of Supervisors reorganized Cass county, in 1870, making its civil townships correspond to its sixteen congressional townships. The act constituting them was passed June 11, 1870, and their political organization effected in October. Atlantic township, which was thus created and organized, was known technically as township 76, range 36.
The township continued to be known as Atlantic until the fall of 1885, when the name was changed to Grove, the first election for officers being held November 3d of that year, at the Center school house.
