50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

A card shower is being planned for Mr. and Mrs. Earl Heath on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary on Monday, September 12, 1983. The Heaths were married September 11, 1923.

MR. AND MRS. E. W. RIPLEY
MARRIED FIFTY YEARS AGO

In observance of the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Ripley of this city, a family dinner was held Dec. 3 at the home of Mrs. Ripley's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Wright, with 22 persons in attendance. In the afternoon, open house was held at the Ripley home, when 70 friends and neighbors called to offer best wishes and congratulations. The rooms were prettily decorated for the occasion and the tea table, with a two-tiered, gold wedding cake as a centerpiece, was presided over by two granddaughters of the couple, Marjory Gallentine and Sandra Griffith. Following their marriage in Lake City 50 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Ripley went to Mr. Ripley's native state, Tennessee, where they resided for ten years. They then returned to this community which has since been their home. They are the parents of three daughters; Mrs. Blake Bales of Gowrie, Mrs. Al Gallentine of Farnhamville and Mrs. Bob Griffith of Glenwood. Their only son, Lloyd, was killed in world War I. They have six grandchildren, Blake Bales, Jr., seaman second class, now overseas, Corp. Elbert Gallentine, also servicng overseas, Bob and Marjory Gallentine, Sandra and Bobby Griffith. Their entire family, with exception of the service men, were present Sunday at the dinner and reception.

ANNIVERSARY PARTY

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Janssen, who observed their 25th wedding aniversary last Saturday, entertained a group of relatives and friends at a party and dance at the Community building Saturday night. The party was opened by Jespersen's orchestra playing "I Love You Truly" with Mr. and Mrs. Janssen dancing and a niece, Miss Elaine Janssen, of Nemaha, singing. Later in the evening, Miss Janssen sang "I Want A Girl Just Like The Girl That Married Dear Old Dad," which was dedicated by the Janssen's son Donald of Rockford, Ill. Music was furnished during the evening by the orchestra and the floor manager was Bill Madden. Among the out-of-town people attending were; Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Brightwell, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Leiting, Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Vogue, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Tjaden Mr. and Mrs Jake Jansen, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Bruns, Breda; Mr. and Mrs Lyle Eaton, Mr. and Mrs. Reinard Janssen and family, Wall Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fogarty and son, Mr. and Mrs. Brown Janssen, Mr. and Mrs. Reinard Janssen, Carnarvon; Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Dean and daughters, Herring; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wise, Sac City; Mr. and Mrs. John Janssen and family, Nemaha; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Moulds and family, of Kiron.

MR. AND MRS. J.E. SANQUIST WILL OBSERVE THEIR GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY HERE ON SUNDAY

Mr. and Mrs J. E. Sanquist will observe their Golden Wedding anniversary on Sunday, October 1. Open house will be held in their honor at St. Mary's parish hall from 2:30 to 5:00 that afternoon, with their children as hosts. Relatives and friends of the couple are cordially invited to call. Mr. and Mrs. Sanquist were married October 4, 1911, at St. Mary's and have spent their entire married life at Pomeroy. Mr. Sanquist is a retired mail carrier.

60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Parks will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday, February 22 with a potluck dinner in their home. Friends and relatives are invited to drop in for lunch and coffee between 2 and 4 p.m. at their home at 403 West Main. Hosting the event will be their children, Bob Parks of Scranton and Mrs. Helen Thompson of Panora, grand children and great grand children. The couple request no gifts, please, only your presence. Mr. and Mrs. Parks were married on February 24, 1921.
