Died – At the residence of his son, James G. Shaw, two and one-half miles northeast of Indianola, Aug. 15th, 1888, Thomas P. Shaw, in his eighty-fifth year. He was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, moved to Harrison County, Ohio, in 1834, then to Iowa in 1856; was two years in the 37th Iowa Infantry, known as the Gray Beard Regiment [during the Civil War].
