Mable Tenold, 97, died Thursday (April 21, 2011) at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at First Lutheran Church, Northwood. Visitation was on Monday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Mable Luella Huso was born to Albert T. And Edith Amanda Anonson Huso on June 11, 1913, in Joice, the second child (and oldest daughter) of seven children. She graduated from Riceville High School and Bethany Lutheran College where she studied piano and music education. She attended a music conservatory in Chicago, studying with a renowned expert in early child piano education. Mable then began a 30-year career in teaching piano that encompassed hundreds of students. Mable was united in marriage to the love of her life, Glenn O. Tenold, on Oct. 10, 1936. To this union were born five children: Suzanne, Nancy Lee, Sally Ann, John Eric and Kathryn Kim. The Tenold family enjoyed many summers at their cottage on Gull Lake.
She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Jerry) Olson of Clear Lake, Sally Anderson of Minneapolis and Kathryn Kim (Gene) Hagen of Northwood; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Clarice Madson of Mankato; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mable was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; her daughter Nancy; her son John; her brothers Wilford (Bill) and Wayne; her sisters Gladys, Stella and Doris and her son-in-law, Avery William Anderson. Mable touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
