Samuel Trebilcock

Samuel Trebilcock, a son John Trebilcock, the first settler in Danville township, was born at Toronto, Canada, in 1842. When seven years of age, the family emigrated to Kenosha Co., Wis., where he grew to manhood , and received a common school education. In 1863 he enlisted in company A, 95th Illinois Volunteers, serving until the fall of 1865. He took part with his regiment in the battles of Nashville, siege of Spanish Fort, besides other skirmishes. He received his discharge at Springfield, Ill., after which he returned to Wisconsin, and the next spring, 1866, came to Danville township, where the family had preceded him the summer before, and where he engaged in farming, which occupation he still follows. In the fall of 1865, he was married to Ellen Gile, a native of New Hampshire, born in 1844. Eleven children have been given to them - Harriet L., William F., Carrie B., Thomas H., Samuel A., Herbert, Eugene W., Asa O., John L., Ida M. and Chester A. Mr. Trebilcock is a republican, and has served his fellow citizens in various local offices. He and his family are members of the Evangelical Association.
