Matthew Joseph Kinney

January 18, 1957 - December 21, 2024

Matt Kinney was born January 18th, 1957 to Jack and Virginia Kinney, in Sioux City, Iowa. He passed away December 21st, 2024 at his home in San Angelo, Tx with his wife LeAnn by his side.

Matt attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and Heelan high school.

In 1976 he married his high school sweetheart, LeAnn Miller. Together they had 2 children, Jason Matthew Kinney and Tricia Kinney-Anderson (Demetrius Anderson).

While Matt was still in high school he started working as a carpenter part time with Buck Miller Coordinators. He retired as a construction superintendent with Kaiser Construction, in San Diego, CA in 2020.

Matt was preceded in death by his son, Jason Kinney a grandson, Elijah Matthew Kinney, a brother, John Kinney and his parents Jack and Virginia Kinney. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Leo and MaryAnn Miller, brothers-in-law, Michael Miller and Steve Paulson, and 2 sisters-in-law, Jeana Paulson and Suzanne Miller-Kerstner.

Matt is survived by his wife, LeAnn Miller-Kinney, his daughter Tricia (Demetrius Anderson), 2 grandsons, Jordan (Ana Monell) and Rylan Kinney. 2 great grandsons, Devin and Hayden Kinney.

Matt is also survived by 8 siblings, Mike (Rondi) Kinney, Sue Kinney-Wieland (John), Mary (Robby) Clouse, Jeanne (Ned) Buser, Molly (Roger) Campbell, Teresa Kinney (Jim Miller) Steve (Barb) Kinney, Eileen Kinney (Tom McGrath). A brother-in-law, Perry (Kathy) Miller, sisters in-law, Janet Miller, Barbara (Chuck) Pastori and Kathie (John) James. And numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Matt's life will be held later this spring in Omaha Ne.
