Zola Mae Littsen

May 14, 1935 - May 19, 2024

SIOUX CITY - Zola Mae Littsen, 89 of Sioux City died suddenly May 19th at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 23rd at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with gravesite rites at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery. Zola (Sells) was born May 14, 1935, at home in Fort Dodge, IA to Elwyn O. Sells and Ada M. (Currier) Sells. She attended Fort Dodge schools graduating in 1953. Zola attended St Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City for one year.

Zola married Leland L. (Lee) Littsen, Sr on August 14, 1954, in Fort Dodge, IA. Lee passed away December 3, 2000. Their union was blessed with four children. The couple lived in the Fort Dodge area prior to permanently moving to Sioux City, the summer of 1966.

Zola was employed with Zenith prior to employment with IBP (Tyson) where she worked for 29 years until her retirement in 1997. Zola was instrumental in bringing the union to the Dakota City, NE plant. Her name is on the union charter, and she was a steward for several years. During her retirement years, Zola also worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block and making sub sandwiches at Casey's.

Zola enjoyed spending time with her family, especially retail therapy, attending worship services with her church family, crossword puzzles, and was an avid CSI viewer.

Survivors include her children, Sheila R. LIttsen of Sioux City, Leland L. Littsen, Jr (Lori) of Sioux City, Linda K. Ross of Fort Dodge, and Charles J (Chuck) Littsen (Terri) of Hubbard, NE, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, parents, Elwyn and Ada, sisters Lorraine Fitzgerald and Carol Ferrell, and a brother, Gene Sells in infancy.
