Memories of the murder in Sioux City of Rev. George C. Haddock on August 3, 1886, were revived by news from Oklahoma that Henry Peters, one of the men indicted for the crime, was not burned in the furnace of a brewery in Sioux City, as had been supposed all these years, but is living in that territory. After the murder it was believed that because of his knowledge of who were the murderers, Peters was put out of the way.
