Susan Zeman, age 69, of Mechanicsville, IA passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit in St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa following a long struggle with kidney disease.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 W. Main St. Decorah, IA, with Rev Donald Hertges presiding. The burial will follow the service at St. Agnes Catholic Church Cemetery - Plymouth Rock, 2875 County Road A18, Cresco, IA.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Susan was born and raised between Decorah, IA, and Franklin Grove, IL. After high school, she moved to Cedar Rapids, where she lived for many years before settling on a farm in Mechanicsville, along with her husband, to enjoy a return to rural life.

She dedicated her years to homemaking, cherishing time spent with loved ones. She had a deep appreciation for lengthy conversation, dining—especially cheesecake, cooking and sharing recipes, traveling & sightseeing.

Her passions included horses & horse racing, sewing and quilting. Additionally, Susan was strong in her faith and a believer in the power of prayer.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Francis Zeman; her parents: Wilhelmina (Zeien) Malli and Rene Malli; and her brothers: Sylvester and Duane Malli.

She is survived by her sons: Brian (Megan) Zeman and Clinton Zeman; her sisters: Katherine Dwyer and Margaret Dick; her brother: Bernard Malli; her nieces: Roberta Dick and Roxanne Byers (Malli); her cousin: Barb Van Alst (Zeien); and many other beloved relatives and friends.

Susan's memory will forever live in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
