Died at Egan, S. D.
J. V. Vance, a former well known resident of Ossian and vicinity, died last week at his home in Egan, S D., where he has lived for many years. Mr. Vance was well advanced in age, being eighty-four years old. He was a brother of the venerable John Vance of Ossian. The remains were brought back to Ossian for burial, the funeral being held on Sunday. Mrs. I. J. White of this city, one of his nieces, was among those in attendance.

The body of J. V. Vance was brought here for burial last Sunday. Mr. Vance was a former resident of this township and lived here many years. For some years past he has been living in Egan, S. D., where he died. We are not furnished an obituary.

Saturday afternoon on the 4:44 train arrived the remains of Feltey Vance, who died at Egan S. D. The funeral services occurred at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, the remains being taken to Castalia and interred in the U. B. cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born July 16, 1830 and died May 13, 1914. He is buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
