Janet Katherine Kron, age 79, of Riverside, Iowa, died Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir and Fr. Charles Fladung officiating. Calling hours will begin 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Sunday evening. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for St. James Church. Janet was born February 20, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Martha (Sponar) Brack. She attended school in Oxford, Iowa, graduating in 1960. Janet was united in marriage to Richard “Butch” Kron on August 29, 1963, in Oxford, Iowa.
Janet has lived north of Washington all of her married life. She was a cook at Mid Prairie Schools for many years and later worked at CIVCO Medical Supply in Kalona, Iowa, until her retirement. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Catholic Foresters and the HJ Neighborhood Club. Janet enjoyed reading, sewing, and watching sports on TV.
She is survived by her husband, Richard “Butch” Kron of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Julie (Deon) Duwa of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Lori (Jason) Tucker of West Branch, Iowa; son, James “Jim” (Jerri) Kron of Riverside, Iowa; and five grandchildren: Matthew, Nevin (Mayzie) & Garrett Tucker and Aaron & Averi Kron.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elaine (John) Argotsinger; brother, Richard (Joyce) Brack; sister, Mary Teresa Brack; nephew, Daniel Brack; and niece, Susan Wille.
