Funeral of “Aunt Sallie” Davis Held
Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon at the A. M. E. church for “Aunt Sallie” Davis, and the church was crowded with friends of this well-known colored woman. The service was conducted by the Rev. W. G. Robb, pastor of the Covenanter church, with music by the A. M. E. choir.
The pall bearers were Lewis Wallace, A. L. Hall, Mose Hall, James Redd, Frank Walker and Henry Campbell. Interment was in Woodlawn cemetery.
It is said at the hospital that there were more telephone calls to inquire as to Mrs. Davis’ condition during her illness than in the case of anyone who has been at the hospital. Mrs. N. E. Lease, who spoke at the First church Sunday evening, gave a fine tribute to her.
