BIRMINGHAM - Lillian M. Jones, 76, Birmingham, died at 6:55 a.m., today, Sept. 29, 1989, at her home.
She was born April 25, 1913, in Jefferson County, the daughter of William A. and Ada B. Hough Bailey. She grew up in Fairfield and Birmingham and graduated from Birmingham High School.
She married J.R. "Sam" Jones on Feb. 24, 1935, in Fairfield. A member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Mrs. Jones served as financial secretary for more than 27 years. She was a member of United Methodist Women, serving as treasurer for eight years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by a son Jim of Avon, Ill.; a daughter, Jenabelle Spees of Birmingham; four grandsons; three great-grandsons; and two sisters, Tine Harrison of Fairfield and Frances Couch of Ashland, Neb. she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
Arrangements are pending at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
Memorials may be made to the Birmingham United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

She was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, where she served as financial secretary for more than 27 years; a member of United Methodist Women and was treasurer for eight years, and member of Rebekah Lodge. She married J.R. Sam Jones on Feb. 24, 1935, in Fairfield.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Jim Jones of Avon, Ill.; a daughter, Jennabelle Spees of Birmingham; four grandsons; three great-grandsons, and two sisters, Tine Harrison of Fairfield and Frances Couch of Ashland, Nebr.
The service was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, oct. 2, 1989 at Birmingham United Methodist Church, the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.
A memorial has been established to Birmingham United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
