92D BIRTHDAY OF FINE OLD LADY
Greeted By Children and Relatives - Has 107 Descendants

Mrs. Elizabeth Huggans, 92d birthday anniversary was celebrated at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Barnett, in Cantril.

Mrs. Huggans was born Oct. 20, 1819, in East Virginia, but grew to womanhood in West Virginia. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Riley.

In 1837 Elizabeth Riley married David Huggans, who died in 1897 - after 60 years of their married life.

In 1852 they moved to this county and settled near Pierceville, and in 1874 moved to the neighborhood of Upton and Cantril. She is the mother of eight children, four sons and four daughters, all living but one daughter, who died at seventeen. The oldest son, Alonzo, lives in Oregon, Charles at Hitt, Mo., Frank at Davenport, Alf. at Cantril, Mrs. Jos. Nichols at Upton, Mrs. Henry Stewart at Fairfield and Mrs. Melvora Barnett at Cantril. She has 31 grand children, 56 great grand children and 13 great great grand children, making her descendants 107.

Mrs. Huggans is well preserved. She has good use of herself, can see to read and hear ordinary conversation. Her memory is good, giving much of the above information. She has been a member of the Baptist church since a girl. All indications are that she will live several more years. Those of her children present at the celebration were Mr. A. Huggans and wife, Mrs. Barnett and husband and Jane Nichols and husband. The grand children were Frank and Ira Huggans with their families, Mrs. Foster and children, Geo. Sayers and family, D.M. Silver and wife, John Stott and family, Harry Barnett and his brother with their families and a neighbor, Mrs. Geo. Hatch. Mr. A. Troth and Mrs. Hatch each presented her a beautiful boquet and the children and grandchildren a fine silk dress. What an inspiration to be in the presence of this great great grandmother, still in possession of her faculties and hear her talk of things that transpired when she was a girl and of her family and friends. The last hundred years has been the most remarkable and wonderful in the history of the world.
