Allan Kirkhart, Lorimor

Allan Leaton Kirkhart, 72, of Lorimor, died July 15, 1996, of a heart attack at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa.

He was born February 19, 1924, in Lorimor to Elmer and Ina (Claytor) Kirkhart. He graduated from Lorimor High School in 1941 and was a lifelong resident of Lorimor. He was the manager of Commercial State Bank branch office for nearly 36 years. On June 15, 1945, he married Joann Strain in Lorimor. He was a member and Chairman of the Board of the Lorimor Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Lorimor American Legion, Post 96; the Masonic Lodge 558, A.F. and A.M.;and, the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 180, in Winterset.

Surviving relatives include his wife; two daughters, Roxanne King of Overland Park, Kansas and Alynn Huffman of Black Hawk, Colorado; one son Rodric Kirkhart of Des Moines; one brother, Lee Kirkhart of Lakeview; five sisters, Beverly Dix of Cody, Wyoming, Martina Weeter of Tucson, Arizona, Helen Henning of Greenville, S.C., Catherine Buck of Austin, Minnesota, Dixie Metcalf of Vermillion, S.D.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
