Miss Edith Johnson, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. G. Johnson was married Wednesday evening November, 15, 1922 at eight o'clock to Mr. Carl A. Swanson of Des Moines.
The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents north of Afton and was attended by the relatives and a few intimate friends of the couple. Autumn leaves and white crepe paper were used in decorating the home. Rev. Hand, pastor of the Methodist church read the marriage service and Helena Johnson, sister of the bride furnished the nuptial music.
The bride was gowned in white georgette crepe and carried a bouquet of roses and sweet peas. The groom wore the conventional blue.
The bride is one of Union County's most sucessful teachers. She has been active in all departments of the church and social life of this community. She is popular with old and young alike and will be greatly missed by her many friends, who wish her the greatest joy and happiness in her new home.
The groom is a resident of Des Moines and for several years has been in the employ of the Des Moines Railway. He served his country in the World War, taking an active part in the final drive aginst Germany, and although a stranger to most of us, has made many friends while visiting here and is in every way worthy of the bride he has won.
A three course dunner was served by Mrs. P. E. Applegate and Mrs. C. A. Elliot assisted by Misses Edna Carlson, Gladys Applegate, Kathryn and Marion Olinger and Helena Johnson.
The relatives froma distance who attended the wedding: Mrs. Erick Peterson and son of Backo, North Dakota and Chas. Larson, John Peterson, Carl T. Johnson, Mrs. Pete Swanson, and daughter, Ruth and Mrs. John Swanson of Des Moines.
After December 1st Mr. & Mrs. Swanson will be at home in Des Moines, Iowa.
