BEDFORD FREE PRESS...1905...ALMOST A CENTENARIAN. At Lenox on Sunday, March 19, occurred the death of one of the oldest citizens of southern Iowa, Mrs. Mary Paymal, at the age of 99 years, 4 months, and 19 days. Her maiden name was Mary Jaqua, and she first saw the light of day in Bocure (Vaucourt), France, November 30, 1805. At the age of 21 years, she married Francis (Francois) Paymal. To this union was born six children, three of whom survive her---Celestine Filburt (Filbert) and Eugene Paymal, of Lenox, and Isadore Paymal, Conway. Decedent came to America in 1848 and to Iowa in 1874. The funeral services were conducted at St. Patrick's church in Lenox by Father Noonan. The body was taken to Kickapoo, Illinois, for interment.
