Lavern J. Clausen
Lavern J. Clausen, 80, of Traer, died Saturday, Aug 20., 2005, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Funeral Services will be held Friday, Aug 26, at 11 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, officiated by Pastor Robert Doner. Bural will be in Crystal Cemetery, near Garwin. Friends may call at the Goettsch Perrin Funeral Home in Gladbrook Thursday from 5-8 p.m., with his family being present at this time. Memorial donations may be directed to his family.
He was born in Tama County on Dec. 26, 1924, the son of Henry and Lillian Landt Clausen. Reared and educated in Crystal Twp. schools, he began farming with his father. Later, he and his brothers continued farming the family farm. Even though he was "retired" he still helped on the farm until his health forced him to stop. He was a long time member of the Tama County Farm Bureau. Three brothers and one sister survive: Melvin (Fran) Clausen, of Williamsport, PA., Gene Clausen of Traer, Robert (Vivian) Clausen of Traer and Reva (Harold) Cox of Traer. Also surviving are two nephews, Steven and Jim Cox; one niece, Sherry Clausen; two step-nephews, Jeff and Tony Hugel; and one step-niece, Sheri Lund. Preceding Lavern in death were his parents; a brother, Lester; and an infant sister. Goettsch Perrin Funeral Home, Gladbrook, was in charge of arrangements.
