Services for Hertha T. Thaden, 94, of Gladbrook, were held Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, with the Rev. Leroy Franz officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery. She died Monday, Dec. 3, at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook.
Born July 23, 1890 in Tama County, she was the daughter of Claus and Mathilda Schroeder Harmsen. She was married on March 12, 1913, to Otto P. Thaden in Waterloo. They made their home on a farm near Lincoln. In 1949 they retired and moved to Gladbrook. Mr. Thaden preceded her in death on November 9, 1972.

Mrs. Thaden was a member of Peace United Church of Christ.

Special music for the service was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiese. Casket bearers were Gilbert Martens, Lloyd Harmsen, Howard Hamann, Arlo Hansen, Louis Bauer, and Harold Denner. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ladehoff and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wiese. Loren Luethje and Lyle Moeller served as ushers.
Survivors include two sons, Werner Thaden of Gladbrook, and Ude Thaden of Marshalltown; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Norma) Russell of Newton, and Mrs. Ray (Alice) Morton of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Emma Hamann of Waterloo; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were two sons, one daughter, four sisters, and two brothers.
