MRS. ADELAIDE BROWN DEAD – Old Resident of Toledo Dies at Son’s Home in This City
Mrs. Adelaide Brown, mother of Will A. Brown, died at her son’s home, 710 Bromley Street at 5 o’clock Monday evening after a long illness due to cancer. Mrs. Brown was an old resident of Toledo, Tama County, where she resided until six years ago, when she came to this city to make her home with her son.
Mrs. Brown nee Leggett, was born at Wauseon, Ohio, June 4, 1846. She became the wife of W. N. Brown in April 1862, at Wauseon, and moved to Dartford, Wis., where she lived until November 1868, excepting the period during which her husband was serving as a soldier in the Civil War. In 1868 Mr. and Mrs. Brown moved to Toledo, and Mr. Brown died there in 1899. Mrs. Brown is survived by three children, Will A. Brown, of this city; Frank C. Brown of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Edna Warner, of Ladd, Ill. One son died in childhood.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Church of Christ, and Rev. C. H. Morris had charge of a short prayer service held at the Brown home at 8 o’clock this morning. The body was taken to Toledo for burial, Rev Mr. Morris having charge of the service there. The interment was in charge of the members of the Degree of Honor, to which Mrs. Brown belonged.
