Funeral Services at the Presbyterian Church, Saturday at 2 p.m. December 5, 1903
David Toland was born in Beever Co., Pa. Aug. 4, 1818. He moved to Ohio with his parents when four years of age. At eighteen he professed his faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian church. On the 23d of Dec. 1841 he was united In marriage with Miss Nancy Merrick, who died in Toledo, Iowa June 18, 1901. To this union nine children were born, consisting of eight boys and one girl.
Seven children survive him. In 1865 Mr. Toland moved to Tama county, where he engaged farming. Sixteen years ago, After a successful curse in his pursuits, he retired and moved to Toledo, Iowa, uniting at that time with the Presbyterian church at that place. On the 23d of Dec. 1891 Mr. and Mrs. Toland celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, and Mrs. Toland died only six months before they would have celebrated their sixtieth anniversary. Mr. Toland died in Toledo, Dec. 3, 1903. His noble influence lives on.
The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. C. C. McKinney. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
