Woman Indicted for Murder

Belle Plaine, March 4. – The little town of Chelsea, west of here, has contributed a sensation through the indictment of Mrs. Francis Vptil for the murder of her husband, Vencil Vptil. On February 8th, Mr. Vptil was found dead in his bed with a revolver at his side. The fact is he was absolutely helpless, being scarcely able to move his hands made the death look suspicious. A coroners’ jury brought in the verdict of murder by some unknown person, and the grand jury of Tama County took the matter up, with the result that Mrs. Vptil was indicted. Mrs. Vptil is 76 years old, and her husband was ten years younger. They were married about thirty-five years ago, and had no children. Their home life has been unpleasant and they have quarreled much. Mr. Vptil has been an invalid for several months, having suffered a stroke of paralysis.
