FRED WILLIAMS

Fred Williams, son of Benjamin H. and Hannah Williams, was born in Guthrie county, Iowa, Dec. 18, 1877, and died very suddenly at his home in Story City April 16, 1939, at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 28 days. Both parents, two sisters and two brothers have preceded him in death.

In early childhood he moved with his parents and their family to Marshalltown, where he grew to young manhood.

In 1902 he met and married Christine Jensen. They made their home in Marshalltown for a short time, going from there to Iowa City where Mr. Williams served his apprenticeship, learning the bakery trade.

In 1904 they came to Story City and Mr. Williams became the proprietor of the local bakery. Except for a few years spent in Cambridge and Des Moines, he with his wife, has lived his entire life in Story City since coming here some 35 years ago.

To their union was born four children, three sons and one daughter.

On February 9, 1919, he united with the Grace Evangelical church at Story City.

He is survived by his wife, and one daughter, Mrs. G. V. Giffin of Ames; and sons, Harry of Ames, Clarence of Winnebago, Minn., and Floyd at home; also five grandchildren, Mary Alice and Richard Williams, and DeVera, Deloris and Donald Martin; brothers, F. W. Williams of Sebastapol, Calif., and Henry Williams of Waterloo, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Lichter of illis [sic], Texas, many more relatives and a host of friends.

He will be greatly missed by his family, for he was a kind and loving husband and father, and also by many friends who has really come to know him.

I know of a sleep in Jesus' name.
A rest from all toil and sorrow;
Earth folds in his arms my weary frame.
And shelters it till the morrow;
My soul is at home with God in Heaven.
My sorrows are past and over.
