OBITUARIES

MARTIN JACOBSON

Martin Jacobson died on Easter morning, April 9, 1939, at his home in Winthrop, Minn., of a severe heart attack. He was planning on taking in the Easter message of his pastor.

Mr. Jacobson was born Jan. 15, 1870, on the old Jacobson homestead southeast of Story City. He was the youngest son of Erick and Bertha Jacobson, one of the pioneer families. He farmed around Story City when a young man.

He was united in marriage to Evaline Thompson of Ellsworth in 1904. They were blessed with seven children, six boys and one girl. The girl, Edith Marilyn, died in infancy in 1917.

The family moved to Winthrop, Minn., in 1920 on a farm where they have lived since.

His health had been poorly the later years. He leaves to mourn his sudden departure his wife and sons, Ernest of Roland, Lloyd of Litchfield, Minn., Herbert, Earl, Kerney and Duane, at home, and three grandsons; also survived by one sister, Mrs. Emily Carr, and one brother, Bartle Jacobson of Story City, a number of nephews and nieces and other relatives.

The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends. There were many beautiful floral offerings. He was laid to rest at the cemetery north of Winthrop. His brother-in-law, Andrew Thompson of Iowa Falls, sang a solo, and some duets were sung at the service.
