NELS A. NELSON

Funeral rites were conducted Monday afternoon from Trinity Lutheran church, Rev. R. M. Fjelland officiating for Nels A. Nelson, highly respected resident of Thief River Falls, who passed away at a local hospital early Friday morning. He was stricken with a heart attack last Thursday while on his way to the Civic and Commerce association luncheon.

Mr. Nelson, who was 56 years old at the time of his death, was born in 1882 in Voss, Norway, and came with his parents the following year to Story City, Iowa. Later moving to Algona, Iowa, and St. James, Minn., he came in 1906 to Thief River Falls, where he had since served as railway mail clerk on the Soo Line. He was married June 17, 1917, to Hilda Fosse.

Surviving are Mrs. Nelson, a daughter Marilyn, and three sons, Ralph, Alfred and Norman, all at home; and his mother, Mrs. Anna Nelson, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Thompson, both of Story City.

Mr. Nelson had been an active worker in Trinity Lutheran church serving as trustee and deacon, as well as having been president of the Mens' Brotherhood. He also was affiliated with the local Masonic lodge, and with the Railway Mail Clerks' association.

Out-of-town friends and relatives of the Nels A. Nelson family, who were here Monday to attend rites for Mr. Nelson included Mrs. T. J. Thompson, Clarence and Alvin, of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Anderson and Ethel, and Mrs. Joe McCoffery, all of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Freestad of Halstad; Cy Morrow of Fargo; John W. Bentley, chief clerk of the Railway Mail association of Fargo; and H. E. Richter, Edwin Berg and Mr. Denny, all of Grand Forks.
