Life Sketch
Mrs. Grace Odella Schlegel-Allie, wife of Fred Allie, was born January 11, 1892 in the territory west of Story City, and died at her home near Nevada after a lingering illness on Jan. 22, 1938, at the age of 46 years and 11 days.
She was the daughter of John and Mary Schlegel and attended school and grew to womanhood in the neighborhood where her parents lived. On March 28, 1911, she was united in marriage to Fred Allie by the Rev. L. J. U. Smay, then pastor of the Evangelical congregation at Story City. This union was blessed with five children, one son Erving, passed away some years ago. She leaves to mourn, her sorrowing husband, three sons, Orlan and Arnold of Nevada and Everal at home. One daughter, Mrs. Edwgr Miller of Stanhope and three grandchildren, also two brothers and two sisters Mrs. Herman Hubner and Mrs. Hugh Sinn of Boone besides a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.
Her parents preceded her in death. The Allie family lived near Napier in Boone county until about eight years ago when they moved near Nevada where they have since resided. Mrs. Allie was baptized by an Evangelical minister and later became a member of the Evangelical church.
A number from this vicinity attended the funeral at Nevada and drove with the funeral cortege to Jewell.
