WILLIAM A. CRAIG
William Archie Craig was born in Butler, Pa., Oct. 1, 1890, the son of Sarah M. and Walter J. Craig.
The family moved to Story City, Ia., when he was six months old and there he grew to young manhood. His genial disposition surrounded him with a host of friends, young and old. There he finished public and high school and attended Grove City college, and became a member of the Presbyterian church at the age of -4.
In the fall of 1912 he entered the Des Moines Still College of Osteopathy, graduated and finished his internship in time to return to Pennsylvania and enlist for the World war. The close of the war found him serving in the Surgical Ward of Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D. C.
Upon resignation and honorable discharge he took additional medical and surgical training.
He was married to Evelyn Valen May 28, 1921, and since then has been a practicing physician in Story City, where he built up an enviable clientele.
Christmas, 1935, he was operated upon for acute appendicitis, and upon returning too soon to practice was never able to regain his health, altho he traveled to New -------, Minnesota and the -------- ---- under the care of specialists. In May of this year his condition became critical and despite loving care and the visits of more specialists, he could not regain strength, and passed to the great beyond on the early morning of Nov. 10, 1937, at his home in Story City.
To mourn his passing are his wife, Evelyn, and their 15 year old son, William L.; his mother, Mrs. W. J. Craig of Harrisville, Pa.; his brothers, Dr. E. D. Craig of Pittsburgh and J. H. Craig of Harrisville, and his sisters, Mrs. P. -. Pringle of Pittsburgh and Mrs. A. Leis of Aliquippa, Pa.
