Ira Doolittle Answers The Final Summons
Ira Doolittle, 61, lifelong resident of this community, died Saturday morning at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames where he had been a patient since the previous Sunday. Death was caused by a stroke of apoplexy suffered more than a week ago.
Mr. Doolittle was born south of Story City Dec. 16, 1876. He had resided on a farm near here until three years ago when he and his wife moved to town.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Henderson funeral home and at two o'clock from Grace church, with Rev. G. L. Bergeman in charge.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Lester and Clarence of Story City; and three daughters, Mrs. Sherman M. Larson of Roland, Mrs. George Toft of Story City and Mrs. Leonard Olson of Faribault, Minn.; three brothers, William and F. D. Doolittle of Story City, R. L. Doolittle of Webster City and three sisters, Mrs. Electa Brown and Emma Doolittle of Story City, and Mrs. Tom Carlton of Rolfe.
