Military service: Enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962 and served his country during the Vietnam War-era; Honorably discharged in Sep. 1965

Employment: After his discharge from the Army, Bill and Jane moved to Missouri and he was employed in the construction industry; the family moved around a lot during this time. After their divorce, the construction trade brought Bill to Ida Grove, IA, where he was employed by Godbersen Smith Construction for more than 20 years; Bill served as a supervisor until his retirement. Bill was proud of the bridges his crews helped build in Crawford County (IA) and would point these out to his family when they would drive past them

Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed gardening, sitting outside and enjoying nature, and watching NASCAR; was a member of the Maple Valley Post No. 364 of the American Legion of Battle Creek, IA. Mostly he loved his children and grandchildren
