3 December 1986 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Harry Alyea, 72, Dixon, brother of Mrs. Fred (Selma) Edler, Tipton, were held at the Big Rock United Church of Christ Nov. 28 with the Rev. Glenn Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Dixon cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill and Frank Snyder, Roy Yackle, Andy and Jerry Spies and Robert Miller. Florence Bethurum was organist.

Mr. Alyea died at University hospitals, Iowa City, Nov. 24.

The son of Abraham and Clara Montgomery Alyea, he was born at Covington, Ky. July 2, 1914. He was married to Irene Eggers at Anamosa June 5, 1942. A resident of the Dixon area for 45 years, he operated a small engine repair shop. He was a member of the United Church of Christ at Big Rock.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Ann Martens, Center Junction; Mary Klukas, Des Moines and Nancy Yackle, Lowden; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers, John, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Harold, Covington, Ky. and Paul, Indianapolis, Ind. and a sister, Selma Edler, Tipton. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
