Gertrude May Asher b 26 March 1887 in Davenport, Scott County, IA dtr of Lewis Micajah and Agnes "May" Nobel Asher. She attended Davenport publis schools and worked as a bookkeeper for Arthur J. Wiley Grocery Store. Gertrude married Frederic(k) Bird Cox of East Moline, Rock Island County, IL on 25 November 1910 in her mother and stepfather (Fayette Jones) home on E. Locust St. in Davenport.
Fred was born 26 November 1883 in Jasper County, IA son of Jason J. and Hattie Arcularins Cox. He worked on the railroad and they made their home in Moline, Rock Island County, IL.
They seperated about 1922. Gertrude worked as a clerk or salesperson for Davenport and Rock Island businesses.
She died 2 October 1932 in Davenport and is buried in Davenport's Oakdale Memorial Gardens. She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church. They had 2 children: Jason Reed Cox b ca 1914 in Moline, and Robert Burdette Cox born ca 1916 in Moline.
