Quinn, Loraine “Lori” Modesta Hess – 1930-2011

Loraine Modesta Quinn, age 81, of Lake View, IA, passed away at Loring Hospital on December 22, 2011.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake, IA. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home of Lake View, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.; Inurnment at the Wall Lake Cemetery at a later date.
Farber and Otteman Funeral Home of Lake View is in charge of the arrangements.
Lori was born on December 2, 1930, to Carl and Frances (Hesse) Hess in Carroll, IA. She graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll and from Drake University with a Bachelor's in Music. She taught school for two years in Leon and three years in Creston, IA.
On August 17, 1957, Lori was united in marriage to Kenneth Edward Quinn in Carroll. This union was blessed with three children, Bruce, Kay and Jon. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Lori loved to play bridge and was a very good card player. She was an avid reader and a daily patron of the Lake View Library and she was a gifted pianist. Their travels took them all over the world. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Wall Lake, IA, and then a member of St. Mary's in Sac City, IA.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Bruce (Genia) Quinn of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Kay (Dean) Kovack of Edina, MN; and son, Dr. Jon Quinn of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Daniel and Bradford Kovack and Summer and Skylar Quinn; sister, Carleen (Frankie) Hess of San Diego, CA; brothers, John (Linda) Hess of Decorah, IA and William "Bill" (Karen) Hess of Carroll, IA; extended family members and many friends.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Kenneth, on January 13, 1988.
