Obituary
Evelyn M. Kilgore, daughter of Neal & Ollie Benson, was born January 13, 1930 on a family farm outside of Diagonal, Iowa.

On November 23, 1946 Evelyn married her sweetheart, Lawrence Kilgore, when he came back from the service. They were married in Troy, Kansas before moving to North Carolina for a short time. To this marriage was born three children: Larry, Joyce, and Shelley.

They moved to Arizona for 30 years where they raised their family. After their 30 year stay in Arizona they moved back to Diagonal and built their house where she retired.

Evelyn loved being a housewife while doing little jobs on the side. She sold Avon for more than 20 years in Arizona, cleaned houses with her sister-in-law Edna Parker, delivered parts for mobile homes, and ironed clothes for people.

Evelyn passed away on September 23, 2020 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Kilgore; her parents; son-in-law; brother; brother-in-law; and two great grandsons.

Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children Joyce Schad of Creston, Shelley Kilgore of Mesa, Arizona, and Larry (Kent) and wife Melody Kilgore of Diagonal; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with another one on the way, and 14 great-great-grandchildren with another one on the way; sister Nina McCall of Lenox; other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided.
